Set life goals without drowning in to-dos
How to set durable life goals: intention, horizons, and the difference between dream, goal, and plan.
Many people confuse life goals with an annual checklist. Result: frustration, quitting, or a Notion board that never moves. A life goal should survive a job or city change.
Three useful levels
- Intention: the direction (“build something lasting”).
- Goal: a verifiable outcome (“launch my atelier this year”).
- Plan: the next concrete actions (without freezing everything).
Write the future like a chapter
Instead of stacking 40 OKRs, pick one to three living goals and a horizon (this year, the next three, “someday”). Revisit each season. Adjust without guilt: the future isn’t a locked contract.
LifArcs separates Future from present noise: dreams, goals, plans, and horizon — so intention stays visible when daily life speeds up.
Tie goals to autobiography
Goals mean more when they rest on what you’ve already lived. Rereading a hard chapter often clarifies what you won’t repeat — and what you want to amplify.
