Personal biography vs LinkedIn: two different stories

How a personal biography differs from a LinkedIn profile: career vs life trajectory, and why you need both spaces.

LinkedIn is excellent for career: roles, skills, network. It’s weak for intimate trajectory: detours, pauses, places, reasons. A personal biography (or life Arc) isn’t a long CV — it’s another object.

What LinkedIn captures well

  • Titles, companies, education.
  • Professional proof.
  • Network visibility.

What it leaves out

  • Non-work chapters that changed everything.
  • Present outside the job (practices, reading, season).
  • Future outside KPIs (dreams, horizons).

Why separate the spaces

Mixing both is tiring: you over-edit life for recruiting, or pollute the CV with intimacy. LifArcs exists for the life story — with visibility you control — while LinkedIn stays the pro tool.
